Background

Our highschool is an integration center, preferably for hearing-impaired students. Focusing on the secondary students, a low level of effort and work is detected, poor academic performance, lack of concern of some families for the attention and follow-up of the educational processes of their children, increase in students with curricular gaps, lack of motivation, high rate of school absenteeism and dropout, although it’s been improving in recent years. The purpose of the project was to make students and teachers aware of environmental protection, education and issues, offering a different point of view that helps teachers to make students conscious of the subject and motivates them to work. We wanted to raise awareness and train on sustainable development, develop a code of conduct for waste management, apply the rules of the three RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), as well as be an open center with a European identity and develop an interconnection of centers to promote cooperation and the exchange of ideas, materials and experiences.
