Objectives

Bonavista a school which comprises Infant and Primary educations. As a school we are very passionate about new challenges and we strive to be a better school every day and that is why we believe in innovation and continuous professional development. Our main objective is to know which new respectful methodologies are carried out in Europe in order to implement them afterwards in our classrooms. By doing this we would like to change the view and educational practices of our school. With regards to families, we want to observe how families are involved in schools on a daily basis and we want to learn this thanks to the different jobshadowings. As for managing different materials and resources, we want to enrol different courses related to materials, Finish method, Montessori, Reggio Emilia… These courses will offer us a new understanding about those respectful methodologies in which the children are at the heart of the learning process taking into account their different interests. Both the jobshadowings and the courses selected will be an opportunity to observe the needs of our school. Thus, all these aspects will consolidate the internationalisation process started at our school with new European challenges.

Background

We applied for this projects with the objective of developing multiple competences among the staff. Firstly, since the project is carried out using English as the vehicular language it will improve the communicative competence of the participants. Secondly, the staff will have the opportunity to learn about respectful methodologies which will improve our daily practice. Another objective set is to be able to design spaces and learning situations rich in educational proposals so that we will creating spaces will be a key element in the teaching and learning process. Therefore, we aim at becoming better practitioners with regards to inclusive methodologies so that every child feels the real sense of belonging to the group as well as to the school. This is a crucial aspects since we all believe in implementing inclusive methodologies although sometimes we find obstacles in doing so. On the other hand, we believe families are a fundamental element for our school due to the fact that their participation is a key factor for the children development that's why taking into account the school families' skills, abilities and knowledge makes our school a richer, open and dynamic place.
