Objectives

The objectives of this project are: Defining well the concept of the game and giving it a didactic approach. Compiling in a directory the ludic resources for teachers grouped by levels and subjects. Learning to create a ludic awareness among our teachers and students. Introducing role-play games as a tool for developing the process of learning. Using new technologies to play the game in the classroom in the virtual field (Augmented reality, Apps…= Turning the game into a regular tool for learning. Motivating students to create their own games in order to develop their learning process. Changing the way we look at the teaching and learning processes in order to give them a more playful approach. Creating our own game (board games, role-plays, digital…) based on the mechanics used and learned while playing. Creating interdisciplinary and ludic methodologies that comprehend all the courses of the high school at some point in the process. Sharing the resources developed from the own experience acquired in this project. Reducing the early school dropout rate in our high school. Modernizing the teaching methodology. Internationalizing and Europeanizing our centre.

Background

This project has been requested in order to learn new methodologies that can help us reducing the percentage of early school dropouts and the repetition rate. We believe in educational innovation as well as in an appropriate and correct professional academic orientation. Emotional education and games are closely related in many aspects, since games are a highly powerful tool for working on emotions and self-esteem. According to recent studies, treating the emotional intelligence in the educational field becomes highly important, and consequently, games can be a very useful tool to develop this type of intelligence in students. There are many different methodologies that have a ludic attitude as the basis for achieving meaningful and experienced learning which, in turn, motivate students to keep learning and not giving up: game-based learning (GBL), serious games, gamification, role-playing, Montessori… We want to learn from these methodologies in order to improve our teaching practice. After the unanimity of the faculty to request a new Erasmus+ KA1, the theme was chosen by consensus, in order to continue studying in more detail the theme of the previous project on school dropout.
