The main aim of this project has been to design, schedule and implement a series of actions aiming at providing the schools involved with a springboard for coordinated, efficient improvement in the following realms: - Language realm: to promote access to and in-depth knowledge of other languages, alongside vernacular tongues, by means of bringing teachers and families closer to the European world. - Scientific-technological realm: to develop scientific-technical knowledge and include robotics and the versality of the maker world in teaching strategies. - Teaching realm: to expand teachers' knowledge about active methodologies to help students connect the scientific-technological word with their everyday existence, through the development of creativity and critical thinking skills. - Cooperation realm: to create and improve collaboration networks between teachers, students and families, which might be transferred to their connections with local, regional, national and international schools. - Intervention realm: to draft and implement improvement plans for educational centres through active peer observation at a national and European level.
This Erasmus+ project has meant an opportunity for the active progress and updating of a group of nursery, primary and special education centres within the scope of CFR Vigo. These educational centres are located in suburban and/or rural areas within the Spanish region of Galicia, which already has a peripheral position with regard to national and European decision-making centres alongside signficant connectivity problems. They require specific actions to alleviate or partially compensate for the inequalities that rural schools face as compared to their urban counterparts, particulary in terms of social cohesion, the gender gap and access to education and work opportunities. The need for a scientific, didactic and linguistic update of the teachers from the schools participating in this Erasmus+ consortium required an internationalisation strategy to learn from similar centres in Europe and a guided process for the acquisition of knowledge-sharing and cooperation skills, which could hardly be implemented without the support structure provided by the Erasmus+ Programme.
