Objectives

The objectives were: -Increase the linguistic competences in foreign languages of the students and the teachers -Make it compulsory to study at least one subject through English and try to increase the number of non linguistic subjects taught through English within a period of five years -Raise awareness of environmental issues and promote a change in attitude towards this issue -Promote the importance of interculturality and European values -Enhance the internationalisation and modernization of our school -Get to know other educational systems and their teaching practices -Establish synergies with other teachers for future projects We applied for several mobilities related with these objectives. The fact of having the possibility of carrying out the mobilities abroad enabled us to meet teachers and visit schools from other countries, share experiences, stimulate actions and foster synergies among teachers . All these actions give us the possibility of organising exchanges and get involved in Erasmus and Etwinning projects . The fact of knowing the cultural heritage , traditions and people from other other countries definetely supposes an added value of internationalization ( value that could not be reached in our country)

Background

The project “Speaking about our planet” was applied in order to cover the needs we detected after having carried out a teachers’ questionnaire and a SWOT matrix. Therefore, the main goal of the project was to upgrade the quality of the education our institution offers. These needs focused on the improvement of foreign languages competences for students as well as teachers, CLIL methodology, internationalisation of the institution, raising awareness about the European identity and environmental issues. These objectives are closely linked to the laws that encourage the use of several foreign languages and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and the promotion of the values of the EU found in the Treaty of Lisbon. The project was designed by an Erasmus+ Interdepartmental comission. Then it was disseminated in the teachers’ meetings so that the ones interested could join the project. A group of 23 teachers decided to work together in a seminar in order to plan all the different parts the project entails (mobilities, insurance, preparation of the participants, paperwork, expenses, dissemination, impact and evaluation). The different tasks were divided among the participants, being everything supervised by the coordinator.
