After analyzing the necessities that we found in our school, we agreed on the following goals: To continue with the improvement of the lingüistic competence of our teacher staff. Both the teachers of English language and the teachers of subjects taught in English. Knowing a foreign language helps to improve the knowledge of our own, to widen our cultural background and overcome frontiers and prejudices against other cultures. To enhance the tools we have so we can fight against school failure through new pedagogical methodologies and emotional education. To fight against bullying situations through emotional education and the acquisition of problem-solving strategies in the school environment. To keep increasing the tools we have to meet the needs of our Special Needs students. Specifically to continue with our training in autistic spectrum. To open our school to Europe and to raise consciousness of the links we have with the countries members of the European Union as well as the cultural heritage that exists beyond our borders. To improve the way we teach subjects in English thanks to the CLIL courses that give useful pedagogical tools for the teachers who teach them. To undergo training in the completion and participation of Erasmus+ projects (KA1 and KA2), now we know that this has changed thanks to the new 2021-2027 program and we got the accreditation but in the moment of writing the present project, it was unknown what the future of the projects was going to be. So we could keep improving in the field of internationalization of our school and its opening to Europe.
After meeting with the European Commission of our school and talking about the needs that we saw in our institution, we agreed on the need of seeking new ways of fighting against early school dropping through emotional education and the fight against bullying situations. We were convinced, and still are, that these three factors are strongly related, and we wanted to know other ways of facing this problem through the observation of partner schools, and the formation courses. The need of improving our knowledge appears mainly in the higher years of primary education and in the secondary education years, as the students of the younger years have worked more about emotional education and the teachers are more trained in this area. Another topic we needed to strengthen was the improvement of the linguistic competence of our teachers in every school level, but mainly the ones who don’t teach English language as a subject but their subjects are taught in English (in our case, arts and physical education), hence the need of CLIL formation. Along with this, we saw the need of improving in the field of special needs. Every year we find an increased number of pupils that require specific attention due to the learning difficulties that they have. We have several students with autistic spectrum disorders, and the need of improving our knowledge in this field was imperative, as they are integrated in the ordinary classes but the teachers who attend them do not have the proper training to manage these kinds of necessities. The last point we thought of as very important, was the need for training in the Erasmus+ projects production. We must add we mean quality projects that are meaningful for our school and our students. To be able to make the most of the opportunity that the European commision gives us and to benefit from the economic resources we receive.
