In our INTEGRA-MARÍTIM project, we had the following main OBJECTIVES: Area 1: To know and incorporate at least 2 methodological tools on inclusion and integration, to look for training opportunities for our students and to give the school a European dimension. Scope 2: To improve the linguistic competences of our teaching staff, to broaden their knowledge of CLIL methodology and to acquire strategies for dealing with non-native Spanish-speaking pupils. Scope 3: To acquire and apply new tools, methodologies and resources for collaborative work and ICT modernisation in at least 2 subjects. Scope 4: To reduce the school drop-out rate by 1% at the end of the project and to increase the graduation rate by 3%. This was intended to be achieved by carrying out 10 mobilities to secondary schools in: Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Poland and Greece selected for their experience and expertise in the areas of interest of our project. It was planned that 8 of these mobilities were for observation periods; while the remaining 2 mobilities were for teaching non-language subjects in Poland.
At IES Districte Marítim we identified a series of needs, thanks to a SWOT analysis which identified needs for improvement of the centre and needs for improvement of professional teaching skills in four areas: Inclusion, Integration and Internationalisation 2. 2. Multilingualism 3. ICT Development and Modernisation 4. Combating Early School Leaving Analysing European trends and policies, we have observed that these four areas of improvement coincide with objectives of different European strategies and frameworks, namely: - Europe 2020 strategy: aims to reduce the early school leaving rate to below 10%. - Strategy for employment and workers' skills: points out that workers' skills must adapt to European societal changes, especially in the areas of innovation, new technologies, environment and health, and that education and training systems must cooperate with enterprises to keep up with these changes. - Paris Declaration: advocating tolerance and non-discrimination Therefore, we consider it relevant to apply for a mobility project to improve teaching in our school.
