By participating in this project, it was intended that mobility actors would acquire a set of competences, which would enable them to continue meeting their needs: a) Regarding school staff: Internationalise the centre, improve the quality of teaching, reduce truancy, improve attention to diversity and inclusion, increase digital competence and improve and innovate school management. b) As for students: increase their European citizenship sense of identity; improve methodological, linguistic, personal, digital and professional competences; and foster employability.
In 2016 a group of teachers of Vocational Training of Santa Cruz School (Mestres de la Creu, Coop. Vcna.) in Mislata decided to embark on Erasmus projects. With the request for this project, it is intended to continue the work started by that group of teachers. Our school is located in a low socio-cultural and economic area. Hence, our school enrols students from lower middle-class families, of more than 40 nationalities, some of them coming from the Refugee Reception Centre, Children’s Residences, and different NGOs. Our school was founded in 1963 with a small number of pupils and teachers, and currently has around 500 students and 50 teachers. In 2011, it becomes an Associated Work Cooperative. Given the characteristics of our pupils and families, we are considered a “Singular Centre” by the Educational Administration of the Valencian Government. We defined ourselves as an inclusive and multilingual school. Considering all the educational and social needs linked to this reality, the teaching staff took part in a 24-month staff mobility project for learning reasons and the student body participated in long-term mobilities.
