With this project we aimed to improve the professional and personal competences of the students in order to increase their professional opportunities at national and international level. We also wanted to promote the improvement of staff competences at the teaching level and thus improve the quality of education provided at the school. We have always tried to improve the employability of students at transnational level and the internationalisation of the school. An experience abroad would open up new career opportunities for our students, broadening their professional opportunities. Furthermore, in order to achieve a higher quality academic programme, it is necessary that the school's teaching staff is always update. Through European projects, our teachers have the opportunity to reinvent themselves, improving their linguistic and professional competences: learning from good practices in other countries, broadening their knowledge about different educational resources, Dual VET, ICT, etc. In this way, teachers can contribute to improving the quality of education. The fact that teachers can benefit from this first-hand experience will have a positive impact on the training received by students.
The Instituto de Educación Secundaria Politécnico Hermenegildo Lanz (IESPHL) is one of the oldest schools in Granada. It has always been linked to the avant-garde. For this reason, it decided to join the possibility of improving personal and professional competences that the European programmes entail to students and teachers. The centre is located within the city centre, in an urban population of medium/low socio-economic level, with a strong predominance of the service sector; the main objective of the centre has always been to provide its students with competences and skills that bring them, as far as possible, closer to the labour market. To achieve this, it is necessary that both the centre and its teaching staff are up to date with regard to the cultural and social situation that exists at all times, adapting to the continuous changes in society. For this reason we seek mechanisms and tools to help our students in their future immersion in the world of work, one of these tools are European projects.
