Background

The Escola Pia Sarrià-Calassanç, with more than 125 years of history, is an educational centre in Barcelona where education is provided at all levels and is one of the twenty schools that the Escola Pia de Catalunya has. Most of our higher level training courses are related to sport. From the beginning, our school has been characterised by its links with the local environment and its relationship with the world of work. Escola Pia Sarrià-Calassanç has participated in different projects for the internationalisation of our centre and with this project we propose to extend the offer of internationalisation of vocational training studies. We have applied for this particular project because we needed to focus more on some of the needs of our school: - at school level, to offer the students of the intermediate vocational training courses the opportunity to do a mobility internship. By doing so, we want to improve their employability skills and increase the attractiveness of the school's educational offer, with the ultimate aim of to give value to the study of vocational training; - to offer training that is related to the world of work, both nationally and internationally; - at the level of teachers, to give them the opportunity to be in contact with students in a different environment from the school environment in order to be able to evaluate with an external and more practical view the competences that students actually acquire at school and on the acquisition of which ones they should improve or adopt different methodologies; - offer teachers the opportunity to visit sport-related companies in other European countries in order to be aware of the labour market in Europe and to adapt teaching subjects to the demands of the market; - at students’ level, improving their professional and transversal competences, i.e. communication in English, the ability to "learn to learn", interpersonal, intercultural, social and civic competences, sense of initiative, etc. By improving all these competences through mobility, the ultimate goal is to improve their prospects of being able to find a job appropriate to their knowledge and skills in any European country they wish.
