The objectives that we wanted to achieve with the realization of this project were the following: - Update and acquire industrial skills. We believe that the business world is constantly changing and that professional training teachers need to be updated. Specifically, the processes related to the transformation of technical plastic have been particularly affected by new technologies. On most occasions, teachers find themselves with obsolete bibliography and a lack of machinery with which to carry out practices. At the same time open frontiers for the students of the Electronic Maintenance cycle and Cycles of the Professional Family of Mechanical Manufacturing, where they can acquire new knowledge and skills in the field of electronics, injection of plastic materials and design in mechanical manufacturing, as well as in language skills, which can help them in the future to more easily acquire a job. - Obtain agreements for the transfer of old machinery for our educational center. - Improve the DUAL FP management skills that we currently have in place. - Improve the quality of teaching in the areas involved in the project. - Acquire good practices in specific areas: Use of equipment/machinery, mechanical manufacturing processes, chemical industrial processes, etc... - Establish relationships with other institutions - Meet other professionals: exchange of experiences, ideas and establishment of contacts for possible future collaborations. - To improve the linguistic competence of the teaching staff, and that will have repercussions on that of the students as some cycles are bilingual. - Develop European values: contacts with other cultures; learning in a cultural, social context…
The IES Fernando III is located in the south of Spain in the town of Martos (Jaén), an eminently agricultural municipality with factories derived from its agriculture and from the automotive lighting sector and auxiliary industries. The center has a wide range of training that includes the entire Secondary and Baccalaureate stage, as well as an intermediate level cycle related to the plastics and metal industry, and 5 higher level cycles that are computer application systems, web applications, electronic maintenance, mechanical manufacturing design and production programming for metal and polymer molding. These last three implanted in the DUAL modality, and referents in our community for being the first cycles of the industrial branch that are implanted in the DUAL modality in Andalusia and from which a high degree of insertion in the labor world is expected. Our educational center, as an institution, has little experience in mobility in companies and could be considered a school with a low level of international connection in terms of industrialization. This project has been requested after a needs analysis process carried out in our institution, through the following tools: a) Analysis of the results of the external evaluation carried out by the area inspection team in the 2018/19 academic year. b) Processes of analysis and reflection by the departments involved in the meetings that have been held weekly. c) Annual self-assessment report and list of proposals for improvement on which each course is worked on prepared by the management team and the ETCP (Technical Team for Pedagogical Coordination) d) Surveys carried out on students/teachers. e) Language level tests for students. f) Obtaining the results with respect to the students who carry out the FCT in ERASMUS. The following needs emerged from this analysis: 1. NEEDS OF THE STAFF AND THE ORGANIZATION. - Lack of quality references in the provincial and regional environment of dual training cycles in the industrial environment. - Teaching staff in the VT area, although they have previous work experience in the industry, need to update their contact with the business world and maintain their skills in specific areas: Use of equipment/machinery, mechanical manufacturing processes, industrial processes , manufacture of electronic components and equipment maintenance, use new controllers in electronics (Arduino based) for educational/DIY applications, among others. In addition, in today's society, it is convenient for this teaching staff to acquire an international dimension in its relationship with companies, let us not forget that we find ourselves in a society that competes at a European level. That is why it is necessary to have a new vision of the management of students in professional training in foreign multinationals. Being the first time that we send students to their facilities to carry out the Training in Work Centers, it is necessary to make a personal contact with the labor tutors and other personnel involved in the Erasmus + stays of our students, as well as know first-hand the industrial processes of the companies. - New vision of the management of vocational training students in foreign multinationals. In previous years we have sent students to their facilities to carry out the Training in Work Centers, for this reason, we are very interested in personally meeting tutors, and other personnel involved in the Erasmus + stays of our students, as well as knowing first hand industrial processes of companies. 2. STUDENT NEEDS. - Lack of motivation for studies, and specifically for the more theoretical aspects, which leads to poor school performance and high dropout rates. (Over 30%). - Little interest from female students in pursuing these vocational training studies in the industrial branch. (Currently women make up less than 25% of students) - Low linguistic competence in English, which reduces their employability in a highly internationalized business environment, such as the automotive sector in the Martos region (VALEO Company and supplier park). This has been demonstrated after the development of the 2018/19 academic year in the bilingual dual vocational training cycles taught at the IES Fernando III CFGS "Electronic Maintenance" and CFGS "Mechanical Manufacturing Design" as well as in the non-bilingual dual cycle such as CFGM "Formed for molding metals and polymers", in which the class average has not even reached an A2 level. - Ignorance of other cultures. After carrying out a survey of students in dual vocational training cycles, in which the conclusion is reached that almost 50% of them have never left their autonomous community and more than 90% have never left Spain. All the needs detected in our students can be alleviated with greater contact with companies abroad. Greater communication with these multinationals, most of the time difficult to access, means an increase in the amount of international mobility, as well as future hiring of our students. Therefore, we can conclude that this mobility has been motivated by the analysis that we have extracted from the tools presented above.
