Objectives

The objective of the Erasmus+ Almendralejo Youth in Europe IV project, as established in the European Development Plan, was to mobilise students from our town to do an internship in a European company and acquire technical and linguistic skills that would enhance their professional profiles and that would also serve as a stepping stone to professional integration. In addition to the activities undertaken, the programme has contributed to the achievement of objectives in the following ways; - It has increased the experience of those in charge of the sending partners regarding this type of training programme, student monitoring and validation of the internships. - It has fostered interest among students in continuing their professional training, by offering them a more complete training, new professional opportunities and interest in the knowledge of other languages. - It has improved the linguistic knowledge and management skills of the staff involved in this proposal. - It has contributed to unify criteria with the rest of the members regarding procedures, incident management, logistic organisation of mobility, timetables, achieving the accreditation as a VET consortium.

Background

The ALJUVE IV programme, which is a continuation of the Erasmus Aljuve I, II and III projects, is part of a Sustainable Urban Development Strategy, and aims to design a strategic plan to modernise and internationalise the city of Almendralejo. The main objective of the project is to develop human potential through lifelong learning and to offer opportunities to achieve the professional insertion of our young people in an increasingly globalised labour market. The Erasmus project makes it more attractive to follow Vocational Training studies and Certificates of Professionalism courses. This programme highlights the value of vocational training, which is increasingly in demand and valued for improving key skills and international cooperation between education and the workplace. Erasmus helps participants develop linguistic skills as well as autonomy in an international context. Most of our students come from rural backgrounds and have rarely travelled outside our borders. The possibility of getting to know another country, its language, its culture, its industry and market niches provides these young people with opportunities for growth in order to establish new ways to enter the labour market.
