Objectives

The fact of preparing the students' mobilities, serves to stimulate the teaching staff in the knowledge of the educational reality beyond our borders. In addition, it helps Vocational Training teachers to discover new methodologies, new teaching technologies and new work processes, which they can then put into practice in the school workshops and thus improve the professional skills of the students, which translates into quality teaching. Thus, we can list the following objectives that will be achieved with the implementation of this project: - To learn new technologies. - To develop new technical procedures. - To integrate students in different working environments that allow them to increase their employability. - To help in the knowledge of a language and in the acquisition of new technical vocabulary. - To internationalise our institution. In summary, our project, with a duration of 2 years, consists of the following: 7 students participating in the Intermediate Level Training Cycle in Auxiliary Nursing Care offered in our institution, can carry out a 1 month internship in hospitals or companies in the sector, with or without training in an educational centre in Portugal. In addition, 2 teachers will be eligible for a period of observation in Peer Centres.

Background

Our school is located in a rural area, with little industrialisation, which practically lives from agriculture and livestock farming. Once the students finish their intermediate vocational training studies, they encounter great difficulties in entering the world of work. Most of the young people come from families whose economic level does not allow them to continue training in languages or other skills. With them in mind, in order to improve their knowledge of languages and their job opportunities, this project was created. Since the 2014 academic year, our centre has had the ECHE Erasmus Charter and since then the students participating in the Higher Level Training Cycles have been able to choose to do their internships outside our country. For us it was a very important achievement and we have had very positive experiences. All sectors of the educational community have been involved in the programme: students, families, teachers, administration, secretariat and management. Well, now we are ready to take on a new challenge, to give an opportunity to the students of the Intermediate Vocational Training and Basic Vocational Training, we have suitable companies so that the children can put into practice the knowledge acquired during their studies at the centre. We have chosen our neighbouring country Portugal, mainly at the request of our students, although we do not rule out establishing contact in the future with companies located in other European countries. Portugal is a country with an excellent cultural richness and quality of life. The Portuguese educational system is very well organised, as we have been able to verify with potential host institutions and with other work centres with which we have already collaborated in other projects. Due to its geographical location, businessmen from Extremadura do a lot of business with Portuguese businessmen. Knowledge of the language and working methods of this country opens many job opportunities for students who master it.
