Objectives

First of all, the CSJB wanted to fulfil the main objectives defined in the European Development Plan of our Centre: - To promote European languages. - To carry out exchange projects, competitions and European initiatives. - To sow and cultivate the idea of Europe. As specific, short-term objectives, we aimed to consolidate the European spirit among our VET students, improve their language skills and increase their employability. It was important for us that this project would promote equal opportunities and eliminate any kind of exclusion, facilitating the access of the participants who, in many cases, came from disadvantaged backgrounds and with fewer opportunities. In the medium and long term, our intention was to improve the quality of our teaching, to maintain the high level of enrolment in vocational education and training at our school and to consolidate our image as an open and pro-European school. Finally, we also wanted to improve the willingness of our teachers to participate in European initiatives, thus consolidating common spaces for the exchange of work and life experiences.

Background

Because the Centro San Juan Bosco - FP Juan Solé - Salesianos Cartagena, hereinafter CSJB, has been committed for years to the quality of Vocational Education and Training (hereinafter VET) through the Europeanisation of the same and the development and implementation of Erasmus+ projects. In our VET there are more than 500 students with an offer of 4 Basic Vocational Training Cycles, 5 Intermediate Level Training Cycles and 2 Higher Level Training Cycles. We firmly believe in the advantages of our students participating in European mobility programmes. Thus, since the creation of the Europe Cell in our school (2013) we have organised different activities that promote the exchange of experiences with other European schools. Since 2014 we participate in Erasmus+ projects (in all sectors). In addition, we have experience as host partners, having managed mobilities of German teachers and Polish students in companies in our city. It is for this reason that participation in projects such as the present one has become normal in our school, not understanding our daily school life without the presence of these initiatives that have given us such good results so far.
