Objectives

From the beginning the main objective of Erasmus+ participation in our school has been to complete and improve the training of our students and teachers in order to increase their employability and strengthen their foreign language competences, social, intercultural and professional skills, taking as a starting point the same ECHE objectives, which we reformulated into 7 general objectives for the internationalisation of VET: This particular project was focused on the improvement of vocational competences and VET teaching to meet the needs of our VET courses, teachers and our students, setting for this purpose the following objectives: 1. To help students adapt to the needs of the wider EU labour market. 2. To contribute to the development of a pool of qualified, open-minded and internationally experienced young people as future professionals, creating awareness of entrepreneurship. 3. To enable students to develop specific professional skills, including language skills, and to broaden their knowledge while gaining quality work experience.

Background

IES Mar de Alborán is a public secondary and vocational school located in Estepona, Malaga, with VET courses in 3 families: Electronics, Administration and Management and Computer Science. We have participated in Erasmus+ since its foundation with the ECHE, recently renewed; this strategic line of the school was included in the Improvement Plan as one of the six key objectives in relation to the development of professional teaching competence, the use of new technologies for collaborative learning, the European and global dimension of teaching and the improvement of linguistic competence. With regard to the last two areas of work, as we do not have a Plurilingualism Project, we have tried to alleviate this disadvantage for our institution and our students through our participation in Erasmus+. In 2016 we made our debut in the KA102 programme with a project in which we established a partnership with 2 organisations to work together: a Swedish secondary school with extensive experience in E+ projects and an Irish business centre, with a dual educational and entrepreneurial profile, supporting start-ups. In this, our 3rd project, we all aimed to expand our collaboration.
