The main objective is to improve education in Spanish educational centres inside prisons (especially ours) based on the acquisition of information from similar centres in Europe. The main items of information to be obtained are: a) Improvement of our pedagogical techniques. b) To know the educational curricula for inmates in penitentiary centres and the educational offer both formal and non-formal. c) To know if there are possibilities of using internet access in other prisons (even if it is restricted). d) To find out how other centres solve problems such as the high turnover of students and teachers in prisons, as well as the great heterogeneity of the student body. e) Different resources used by other educational centres similar to ours. f) Internationalisation: a greater relationship and communication with similar centres will help us to generate links to solve common problems and to learn from the failures and successes of our European analogues. f) Unify information with the objectives proposed in the K204 Project on good practices in which we are currently participating in order to achieve greater success in our general objectives.
The motivations behind the request for this project are several. On the one hand, teaching in prisons generates not only an isolation of the inmates who attend the school, but also of the teachers who teach there, as many of the general aspects of education are not adapted to our environment, as well as the resources to be used, since, obviously, security measures will always be more important than educational needs. Furthermore, the heterogeneity and learning difficulties of our students are many and our training in this respect is scarce. That is why knowledge of how other centres similar to ours in Europe work can surely help us to solve at least some of these problems.
