Objectives

The project was designed to address the following needs: - Train teachers in innovative and creative methodologies - Enhance students’ interest in local and regional heritage - Use that interest to, in turn, increase intrinsic motivation for study - Create teaching materials covering local and regional heritage - Improve students’ intercultural competence - Use students’ knowledge of heritage as a tool for addressing diversity, promoting inclusion and enhancing educational success in the classroom, thus contributing to the social, academic, and occupational inclusion of students - Disseminate our local and regional heritage at European level and receive information and experiences disseminated about their heritage by other European regions - Encourage participation of the consortium’s schools in regional plans and projects related to heritage - Establish multilateral contacts to create networks of institutional, professional, digital, and personal support among schools - Promote European projects in underprivileged educational environments.

Background

Our schools have been working for several years to address the need to attract new and retain current students, reduce absenteeism and dropout, and improve academic performance. To do this, we have been striving to: -Offer attractive and innovative methodologies -Prevent absenteeism and dropout by offering personalized study paths and individualized motivation sources -Advance in the transition to digital education and digitalized school management. With a view to the above, we have decided to use local and regional cultural, historical and natural heritage as a core teaching content and a motivation source. To do this, students, teachers, and the educational community need to be knowledgeable about and able to disseminate the wealth of local and regional heritage, use their knowledge of that heritage, use the languages they study to communicate about that heritage, and improve their intercultural competence. Another strategic goal of our schools is internationalization through participating in European projects and establishing multilateral contacts to create and expand networks of institutional, professional, digital, and personal support.
