The main goal of our proposal is to offer students the possibility of carrying out a module of “Training in working places” abroad, in a foreign language, thus adding a relevant personal experience which might be essential for their future. Another important goal we have is to be able to offer the teaching staff an opportunity to become familiar with new teaching and work organization methodologies used in other countries and educational systems, in order to be able to apply them at our school. This also fosters the sense of European citizenship in the beneficiaries of the programme, while they also transmit this idea to the rest of the educational community. This past year we sought to return to “Erasmus normality”, striving to involve a greater number of participants, both students and teaching staff, especially by promoting scholarships among the low-income students. At the same time, we intended to further expand the number of partnerships in the programme, while strengthening and consolidating the ones already established.
Our school has always shown concern about internationalization, about expanding frontiers to our students in order to help them improve their professional competences, their personal development and their employability. Since the opening of our school in the mid-eighties, IES Calvià has become a reference school regarding vocational training, broadening its offer to its full capacity. Our school is located in the town of Calvià, a town dedicated almost entirely to tourism, hence the importance of languages and internationalization for the professional future of our students. As from the academic year 2004/2005, the school has had an International Coordinator (Leonardo or Erasmus) and as from the year 2014 we have our own project, which has been growing every year in quantity and quality. We also expanded the levels and sectors of training in which we have Erasmus projects. We started with the intermediate levels of vocational training, expanding afterwards to advanced levels and later to school projects for secondary education (ESO and Baccalaureate). Nowadays, we are a regional reference in Erasmus programmes.
