According to ISCED, a high level of education has a significant impact on employment opportunities, which undoubtedly affects the quality of life of the population. However, it is estimated that 55 million people in Europe between the ages of 15 and 65 have problems understanding a simple text. These figures show how far we are from reaching the level envisaged by the Lisbon Treaty. Among the people with low educational level, a significant percentage are people over 45 years old, who need the motivation to re-join the educational process and thus improve their skills to improve their situation in the labour market. A key role in this process is played by adult educators, the target group of this project. Although most of them are quite versatile with highly educated students, many do not know how to proceed with students with low- literacy level, nor which methodology to use to work with this kind of students. In this project, we built on the excellent results obtained in our previous Erasmus+ project LearnersMot, where the tools and materials developed within the project were being successfully used in several countries. LearnersMot2 continued to focus on adult educators as a DIRECT TARGET GROUP and on older workers with low education and skills as an INDIRECT TARGET GROUP, as the ageing of the working population is one of the main demographic changes in EU countries. The;silver economy is growing, which means that older people are not only considered as end-users, but also as producers (Memorandum on the silver economy, Ljubljana, 2016). The main GOAL of this project was to provide adult educators with the knowledge and skills they needed to create productive and effective learning environments for adults with low educational attainment. LearnersMot2 continued this work already started, focusing on the gaps identified during the implementation of the previous project, such as digital competences, ongoing motivation, and constructive feedback. The partners created a free online educational platform to make the materials developed in the framework of the project available to all interested parties. At the end of the project, the partners obtained the following OUTPUTS: 1) concept map with indicators for the development of 2) online course for adult educators, 3) web application for computer and mobile devices, 4) face-to-face training activity in Ljubljana to pilot test the developed material, 5) database with a collection of resources for adult educators, 6) blended learning course for adult educators, 7) 4 transnational meetings 7) 6 dissemination conferences. As for the METHODOLOGY used, each activity was led by a partner who provided the relevant guidelines. All partners were involved in the development of the intellectual products, always under the supervision of the leader. Once the materials were developed in English, they were evaluated internally and the materials were improved with the feedback received. The materials were then pilot-tested and finally the final English version was translated into the partners' languages. This ensured that the results reached more educators in the partners' countries. This project had a high impact at the local, regional, national and European level. Due to the success of the previous LearnersMot project, the partners already had a network of contacts of educators interested in this topic, who had expressed their interest in LearnerMot2. The project focused on fostering international cooperation for a greater exchange of good practices, experiences and knowledge about teaching adults with low educational level. By having the input of several countries, a common shared approach was guaranteed.
The main objective of this project was to equip adult educators with the knowledge and skills to create productive and effective learning environments for adults with education levels below market requirements. The objectives of the project were to Promote continuous motivation of low educated and low skilled workers Improve the professional competences of adult educators to create non-formal learning environments To train educators to help their adult learners: o Understand the nature and process of technological socialisation/education o Introduce aspects of applied numeracy into daily life o Deepen their basic knowledge needed in the workplace and everyday life o Improve their learning skills
The Erasmus+ project LearnersMot2 is the continuation of the already completed Erasmus+ project LearnersMot (2017-1-ES01-KA204-038414). The idea for this project came after the completion of the LearnersMot project. The overall response was very positive and many adult educators expressed a desire for a second part that would deal with more practical aspects. Suggested ideas included the development of a web application that would enable learners to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as their cultural, communication, social and technological skills, to a level that would enable them to successfully complete everyday personal or professional tasks and to learn by themselves from their environment. During the development of the previous project and during subsequent research, the partners realised that although such applications exist, they are mainly aimed at children and young learners and are not suitable for older adults. LearnersMot2 focused on feedback from the adult educators involved and aimed to fill this gap by suggesting practical activities that they can use in their courses with low educated and low skilled adults. This will motivate them to stay in education.
