Project summary

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) (UNCRPD, 2006) promotes full and effective participation and inclusion in society (Art.19) by recognizing the right of PWDs to live in the community, with options equal to others, and to fully enjoy their full inclusion and participation in the community. It also promotes knowledge of the capacities and contributions of PWDs (Art. 8). The NON-PROFIT SHARING ECONOMY (NFPSE), also known as "real or pure" SHARING ECONOMY, is based on reciprocal exchange systems without monetary exchange (through time credits, community currency, shared services, etc...). One of the most established forms of NFPSE is TIME BANKS (BT). Offer service to another person by valuing the know-how and time of dedication and receive one-hour gratification from the person who receives, when a network of members agrees to receive credits for the services provided by other members (www.timebanks.org/what-is-timebanking). BTs are relevant for policy-making in the area of PWD (Potential of BTs to support social inclusion. EU Commission): • Focus on the capabilities rather than the disabilities of PWDs, thus promoting awareness of their capabilities and contributions. • Increase inclusion and participation in the PWD community, providing them with new social networks or enhancing existing ones and encouraging them to understand the important roles they can play in those networks. • Provide mutual, altruistic and community support. The main objective of CAPABILITY-TB is to increase the competencies (attitudes, knowledge, skills) of PWDs and their facilitators to improve their Inclusion and Participation through the Time Bank. Specific objectives: • Raise awareness/motivate this group about the use of BT • Promote self-knowledge and discovery of PWD capabilities and their deployment • Increase PWD participation in social networks structured around BTs • Promote mutual support by encouraging exchange between people with different abilities • Promote easy and cost-effective access of persons with disabilities to goods and services • Involve support people and facilitators in effective cooperation with PWDs and even participate in BT • Develop general and specific digital skills related to BT's online platforms The results obtained in this project have been: • "Co-Created Methodological Guide" (IO1) with the direct participation of 130 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and other End Users. This guide includes the objectives, final contents, methodological approach and tools included in the Training Program. • Set of "Time Bank Training Activities" (IO2), including Face-to-Face and Online Training Activities, which enhance the experiential training of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and their Supports (professional, family, community, etc ...), so that participants develop specific skills through the creation of a real Time Bank and / or participation in other existing Time Banks. In order to promote proper implementation and use of these activities, 6 manuals for trainers (manuals for planification) have been developed as part of this product. • Set of "Training Materials" (IO3) adjusted to the characteristics and needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and their Supports on how to increase inclusion and participation through Time Banks (BT). These training materials have been designed to be used throughout the implementation of the "Time Bank Training Activities" (IO2). • "CAPABILITY-TB e-training tool" (IO4) to support the implementation of time bank training activities" (IO2). This tool includes two areas: 1. Training platform where training courses are located in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek and German; 2. Time Bank Capability-TB understood as a space for the management and connection of exchanges between people and which in turn constitutes a training tool since it allows participants to acquire real knowledge and digital skills about the operation of a BT increasing the opportunities for inclusion and participation. • Celebration of 6 Multiplier Events in Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy on how to increase the inclusion and participation of PWD through Time Banks. They have been aimed at representatives of other socio-educational organizations in the field of disability, the elderly or other groups at risk of social exclusion; political representatives, as well as interested citizens. A total of 105 people participated. • Dissemination actions aimed at the European group related mainly in the field of disability but also to other groups at risk of social exclusion in order to make the training program and support methodology scalable. A key element of the project has been the development of VALIDATION PILOT ACTIONS in which they have participated involving 100 Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and their Supports for the validation of the results of the project in different countries: Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece. The result obtained has been highly satisfactory allowing the real implementation of the training program in other contexts generating greater opportunities for inclusion and participation for people. The Consortium is formed by 5 entities working in the field of support for PWDs (AMICA, COPAVA, CECD SINTRA, EDRA, CSS FORLI), 1 Research Institute specialized in Collaborative Economy, including the Time Bank, both in the field of research and application to specific groups (FORBA ) and 1 non-profit entity specialized in the development of e-Training Platforms, ICT Literacy and Social Innovation with specific experience in promoting the use of Time Banks (IED).

Objectives

CAPABILITY-TB project is based on the idea that time banks are a good tool to improve social inclusion and participation of pwd by generating more opportunities to play an active role in society. For this reason, this project proposes the development of a training program for improving the inclusion and participation of pwd through timebanking. The results of this project, as has been validated throughout its development based on the co-creation methodology and pilot validation courses, in order to involve pwd and their supports, allows to increase the competences of PWDs and their Supports to improve their Inclusion and Participation through Timebanking, as well as other specific objectives such as: Aware/motivate this collective on the use of TB • Promote the self-knowledge and discovery of capacities of PwD and its deployment • Increase participation of PwD in social networks structured around the TBs • Promote mutual support by promoting the exchange between people with different capacities • Promote the easy and cost-effective access of PwD to goods and services • Involving Supports in effective cooperation with PwD and even participating in TB • Develop general and specific digital skills related to TB Online Platforms

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) (UNCRPD, 2006) promotes full and effective participation and inclusion in society recognizing the right of PwD to live in the community, with choices equal to others, and to full enjoy their full inclusion and participation in the community. One of the most established form of NFPSE is TIME BANKS (TB). Give one hour of service to another, and receive one time credit, when a network of members agrees in receiving credits for services that other members provide (www.timebanks.org/what-is-timebanking). TBs are relevant to policy-making in the area of PwD: • Focusing in the capacities rather than disabilities of PwD, so, promoting the awareness of its capabilities and contributions • Increasing inclusion and participation in the community of PwD, through providing them with new social networks or improving the existing ones and encouraging them to understand the important roles they can play in those networks • Providing volunteer support
