The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed serious global problems in all socio-economic and educational sectors and has shown major shortcomings in responding to distance and blended learning. What has so far been presented as an option in higher or non-formal education is now a real challenge when it comes to compulsory education for millions of students, mainly from 3 to 16 years of age. The E-DUCATION: TEACHING AND LEARNING AFTER 2020 project proposes three lines of work based on active online methodologies, assessment in non-presential systems and the coordination of the educational community in the attention to students, especially those who are disadvantaged by the digital divide. Therefore, the target groups have been defined in detail in this project on the basis of their objectives and planned activities: - SCHOOL EDUCATION TEACHERS (including school guidance teams): providing them with fundamental tools in three areas: active methodologies for online teaching, appropriate assessment instruments to adapt to digital environments and coordination tools to avoid the risks of the digital divide and the disconnection of students. - MANAGEMENT TEAMS: providing them with reliable guidelines for the implementation of transition and assessment strategies for online teaching and for schools to ensure the quality of education they need. - PUPILS, FAMILIES and SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL AGENTS: by providing them with a tool for communication and rapid intervention with the aim of detecting and supporting cases of risk in collaboration with teachers, management teams and socio-educational authorities. The project has focused on the clearly identified needs of our main target group: school education teachers. This group has had to make a drastic transition from face-to-face to non- face-to-face online education. In a very short period of time they have had to adapt their classroom methodologies to digital communication with students and families, generating a multitude of difficulties at many different levels. Therefore, the studies carried out so far indicate an urgent response to this group, which is inextricably connected to the work of the management teams of each centre. To respond to this situation, we have designed the report RETOS Y PROPUESTAS EN LA EDUCACIÓN DIGITAL DEL SIGLO XXI (CHALLENGES AND PROPOSALS IN 21st CENTURY DIGITAL EDUCATION) and the interactive e-book CHECK&ACT. There is a need for specific training in active methodologies in virtual environments that avoid a return to the one-way master class with very limited feedback. In this case, we have created the MOBILE LEARNING platform. To improve the necessary teaching coordination in blended learning environments and thus avoid the digital divide, we have also developed the GAP RADAR app. We understand that it is essential to offer assessment techniques and tools suitable for the new online environment that are consistent with the methodology on the one hand and, on the other, efficiently monitor the students' progress. For this purpose, we have developed the digital tool E-TESTING, which also allows the development of tests with the possibility of TEST GENERATOR. In order to extend the impact of the project and contribute to its sustainability, we have developed different multiplier events such as the International Congress on Education and the Digital Divide to present the results of the research and the tools developed in the project, the International Conferences to present the conclusions of the research on evaluation and methodologies in digital environments and the National Seminars for the presentation of the conclusions of the project in the localities in which we have intervened in Infant, Primary, Secondary schools in formal and non-formal education. The project partners have been: - In Spain: Fundación Santos Mártires de Córdoba, University of Cordoba, the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and Conecta 13. - In Italy: CREATIV, Istituto Istruzione A. Lincoln and Eurolingue Schools. - In Portugal: Agrupamento de Escolas Rainha Santa Isabel. In this way, university and educational research institutions have provided the necessary support for the intellectual products envisaged. The collaboration of school entities in Spain, Portugal and Italy has been fundamental in terms of the scope of the target groups. In the school population, we have been able to know the situation of around 10,000 pupils and their families and, in addition, that of more than 800 teachers at all these levels. The partners have put at the service of the project their capacity to promote testing and preliminary research and, secondly, the implementation of the digital tools planned for its validation, as well as its wide dissemination at local, regional, national and international
The objectives of the project are based on the needs detected: - Knowledge of the situation with objective data and creation of a tool for schools to detect their needs in the digital transition processes - Development of audiovisual materials for teachers and management teams to be trained in online methodologies and new assessment tools in digital environments. In this way, schools can advance in their training to achieve the necessary educational quality in their attention to students not only in the teaching-learning processes but also in the new evaluation formulas in semi-presential or non-presential online environments. - Creation of a digital tool that favors teaching coordination processes in which different educational agents intervene in non-presential environments. This tool is especially designed to act efficiently in cases of students at risk of digital divide and thus facilitate their detection and personalized attention. - Dissemination of the results among our target audience and stimulate debate on the processes of digital transition of schools.
The project is a response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on school education, which has shown significant shortcomings when it comes to responding to non-face-to-face or blended learning education modalities. The digital transition processes in schools have meant a real challenge of adaptation for all educational agents: students and families, teachers and management teams. E-DUCATION decided to propose three lines of work around active online methodologies, training on assessment formulas in non face-to-face systems and the coordination of the educational community in the attention to students, especially those who are disadvantaged by the digital divide. Our project aims to respond to the self-evaluation of the centers as a starting point, to the need for teacher training in new digital methodologies and evaluation and to offer more effective coordination tools.
