Project summary

The current COVID-19 crisis has greatly brout the need for digital transformation of education and training systems across Europe. The goal is to reinforce the ability of education and training institutions to provide high quality, inclusive digital education. Regional Governments have mobilized to train teachers, have provided tools and resources, and have put a lot of effort and resources into teacher training, so that they can get the most out of their students when they go to teach through online education. During the pandemic, schools principals have realized that the parents of primary school students were not prepared on digital technologies to support the students, lot of times they have had to face situations (such as doing activities on a platform, or carrying out a videoconference, ...) this caused them a lot of stress to because they do not know how to help their children. Partners have designed a training plan for students and families in order to equip them with the necasary competences to make sure they feel confident in doing a videoconference, and get to know the basic skills to live and help their children with digital tools. School teachers have a better understanding that social exclusion can only be overcome through inclusive, innovative and active approaches that also favor access to a knowledge-based society by motivating students in the learning process. Digital technologies have enormous potential to enable inquiry-based learning from the earliest years of school education, as well as to increase the relevance and application of the disciplines in which they are used (mathematics, science etc. ). Students will develop skills such as collaboration, communication and networking, knowledge development, inquiry, critical thinking ... this is the reason why digital technologies should be available to everyone. Objectives

In the project our objectives have been: To address the differences encountered by schools, their students and families in relation to the access to digital technologies. Both at equipment and at a training level. To help students and families receive the necessary digital training to mitigate the impact of the crisis in some of the most affected sectors. To promote education using digital technologies in order to achieve greater equity, diversity and inclusion among citizens. To propose creative activities for students through digital technologies that will make a more inclusive education. And so to consider this difficult situation at schools as an opportunity to avoid the digital gap by providing students a creative and innovative education using digital resources. In conclusion, to increase the diversity of digital tools to be implemented in the classroom and applied to the curriculum, as well as making digital tools known to parents and guardians. In this way parents would have the possibility to assist their children at school.

Background

In the age of technology and the leaping dynamics of digital education, equal participation of students and their families without exclusion is a necessary condition. This need is of particular importance for students with fewer opportunities, in order to move away from the risk of digital illiteracy. Besides, many schools have limited technological equipment and often find it difficult to support the digital education of its students, who face economic and social problems that have worsened in recent years due to the covid epidemic. Applying for this project helped the partners to further expand the children’s experiences with different cultural groups and to see how other European countries dealt with the pandemic and share best practices. During the confinement distance learning called for more digital tool use, but there was sometimes a lack of digital knowledge . In Primary there is a growing need to bring new technologies closer to students in an active and comprehensive way. Likewise, the parents have expressed their deficiencies at a technological level. Providing them with the necessary tools to use the digital tools that their children use at school would directly result in their academic development.
