Project summary

EUREKArt is an innovative educational project developed to promote and increase scientific knowledge in society. This multidisciplinary project has provided broad social value through an educational synergy between visual and performing arts framed by cutting-edge research in nanotechnology. To expand the reach of stakeholders, we have generated various open educational resources for both teachers and students, aiming to facilitate and optimize key learning outcomes. Participants have had access to a comprehensive didactic guide on sciences and plastic and performing arts; introduction to nanotechnology flashcards; "step-by-step" explanations of scientific experiments; records of artistic workshops; and an Art & Nano dictionary to expand vocabulary in both disciplines. Regarding objectives, to address the situation arising from COVID-19, EUREKArt has fulfilled the goal of providing education and training systems with the means to address online and distance learning, including supporting teachers in developing digital skills. Furthermore, our objectives have been clearly defined, realistic, and adapted to the core strengths of participating organizations and target groups. This proposal has been highly suitable for generating synergies between the different areas of education described, training, and school education. It has also added value at the EU level through results that would not have been achieved with activities carried out in a single country.

Objectives

The purpose of this project was to produce wide societal benefits by creating connections between the visual and performing arts and nanotechnology, based on the curriculum of secondary schools. Encourage and develop students' curiosity about the process that leads from creativity to culture creation. Develop an interest in scientific knowledge with social value through an educational synergy between the visual and performing arts together with nanotechnology. Develop innovative practices in the field of education, by combining performing and plastic arts with nanotechnology. Provide young adults with the necessary tools and skills to find creative and innovative solutions that allow them to face unprecedented social risks and challenges. Furthermore, the initiative includes free tools for instructors who want to combine scenic and plastic arts into their syllabus, which can be downloaded on the website. The consortium employed a variety of various learning resources, materials, courses, and training modules, as well as artistic and cultural initiatives with an educational focus, to address the demands of developing informal and non-formal education and boosting the development of skills and competencies.
