Project summary

The world has reached a level of inexhaustible and frenetic innovation that exerts a strong influence on the way we live and think... Students at schools are certainly not immune to this influence, in fact on many occasions, pupils are ahead of teachers in terms of their adaptation and understanding of the complex digital world we live in and they tend to feel more comfortable when working in virtual environments where audiovisual arts and ICT are completely fused. If education professionals do not adapt to the audiovisual and multimedia world of children, our students will be increasingly unmotivated. In each of our partner centres, our project intends to set in motion a rich and abundant exchange of educational and learning experiences based on the arts, incorporating plastic, audiovisual and ICT, as all the educational materials aimed at children today must contain animated images, attractive videos and enveloping sounds that motivate learning (educational video games, audio and television messages addressed to children, robotics, etc. Although this idea we want to affect all the students and teachers in our schools, it is especially aimed at the most unmotivated students in our educational centers, because they are the ones who need more encouragement to be interested in learning content and improve their school performance. Our main objectives are: 1) Promote in our schools the use of ICTs in combination with art (plastic and audiovisual) throughout the teaching-learning process. 2) Promote innovative good practices among our teachers, approaching and adapting to the audio-visual reality of the world that surrounds our students. 3) Motivate our students through proposals of creative multimedia work closer to their interests and their reality. 4) Promote social and civic competences and European values in the theme and development of multimedia materials. 5) Improve the use of foreign languages among our students and teachers. 6) Open and promote our educational centres abroad.- 7) Learn to work cooperatively and collaboratively within our classrooms and in general within our Project partner centres. The project is expected to promote a wide participation of a large number of members of the educational community, mainly pupils and teachers, and parents too. Our main participants will be the pupils, mainly between 6 and 14 years old. At least 200 students per school are expected to participate (in total more than 1000 students); about 15 teachers per school (in total about 90 teachers); and about 50 families per school (about 300 parents in total). A special effort will be made to involve students with educational difficulties, as well as students with economic and social difficulties. The Project activities will be marked by that artistic character together with the ICTs, in order to create and develop applications and materials that improve our teaching processes to learn and that help us to present with our students communication, information, multimedia presentations of lessons, school radio and television programs, etc. The activities will be varied: Workshops for learning applications for digital audio and video recording and editing; Programming and gamification workshops, digital animation and robotics start; recordings of radio-TV programs and a Project anthem; multimedia concerts; websites, blogs and in social networks, etc. For teachers, there will be activities aimed at improving teaching practice, such as: Round tables, seminars, discussion, workshops to improve our teaching in ICTs. We will use four basic methodologies that are used in our schools in the teaching-learning process: 1) Learning based in Projects (ABP). Students must prepare their own work projects, using creativity, problem solving. 2) Cooperative Learning: Students must work in cooperative groups to favor peer learning and collaborative work. 3) Gamification. Students will use the dynamics of the game and videogames to boost motivation, concentration, effort,... 4) Design Thinking - This method will allow each student to generate their own ideas and solve problems creatively. We hope that the development of this Project will have a great impact on our partner schools, allowing: a) Greater motivation of our students to learnings and consequently an improvement in the results of our school development. b) Improvement in the professional interest of our teachers for a methodological change, betting on ICTs as fundamental tools for the competence development of our students. c) A higher level of involvement of families and other members of our schools in the teaching-learning processes and the real needs of their children, understanding and valuing more the work done by teachers in schools. d) All this will allow for an improved Coexistence among all the agents involved in education.

Final report summary

The situation that has occurred with COVID-19 in all the contexts of our societies, although it has made many aspects difficult in the development of the project, has highlighted the need to develop a technological innovation program in our schools, especially in ICTs that would respond to the need for telematic communication, adapting to a world of inexhaustible innovation. Our students in schools, often ahead of teachers in terms of their adaptation and understanding of the complex digital world we live in, have felt very comfortable working in virtual environments, where audiovisual arts and ICT are completely merged. In a premonitory way, when we proposed the starting situation of the project, we said that if education professionals do not adapt to the audiovisual and multimedia world of children, our students will be increasingly unmotivated. So, the situation of the pandemic forced us all to make an effort to fully integrate ICTs in our daily teaching work. Throughout the development of the Project, our associated centers have been able to launch a rich and abundant exchange of educational and learning experiences based on the arts, incorporating plastic, audiovisual and ICT, since all educational material aimed at children today must contain animated images, attractive videos and immersive sounds that motivate learning (educational video games, audio and television messages aimed at children, robotics, etc.) We have been able to benefit all our students and teachers in our schools, but especially the most unmotivated students in our educational centers, because they are the ones who need the most encouragement to be interested in learning content and improving their school performance... We have not modified our main objectives, but on the contrary we have reinforced them with the pandemic: 1) Promote in our schools the use of ICT in combination with art (plastic and audiovisual). 2) Promote good innovative practices among our teaching staff. 3) Motivate our students through multimedia creative work proposals that are closer to their interests and reality. 4) Promote social and civic skills and European values in the theme and development of multimedia materials. 5) Improve the use of foreign languages 6) Open and promote our educational centers abroad. 7) Learn to work cooperatively and collaboratively within our classrooms. In addition, we have had to promote telematic work in all our schools to achieve our goals, which is why the creative development of multimedia materials that allow learning advances to be shared has been further reinforced. Despite the pandemic, the project has promoted broad participation by a large number of members of the educational community, mainly students and teachers, as well as parents. Approximately 200 students per school (in total more than 1000 students); about 15 teachers per school (about 90 teachers); and about 50 families per school (about 300). In particular, students with educational difficulties have been involved, as well as students with economic and social difficulties. In relation to the activities, it should be noted that the pandemic has marked their development, especially in relation to interpersonal relationships between the students and teachers of each school, as well as between the partners of the School Association. It is true that hugs, physical contact, physical expressions of affection (all necessary for daily relations in a school and in a European school association) have been suppressed; but we have been able to supply them with symbols, signs and even digital objects that have helped us compensate for the lack of hugs. On the other hand, the Project has been marked by this artistic character linked to ICTs, creating and developing applications and materials that have helped us improve our teaching processes to learn and (multimedia presentations of lessons, radio and television programs, ...) We have used four basic methodologies: 1. Project Based Learning (PBL). 2. Cooperative Learning. 3. Gamification. 4) Design Thinking Likewise, the development of our Project has had a great impact on our associated schools, allowing: a) Greater motivation of our students towards learning and consequently an improvement in the results of our school development. b) Improvement in the professional interest of our teachers for a methodological change, betting on ICT as fundamental tools for the development of our students' skills. c) A higher level of involvement of families and other members of our centers in the teaching-learning processes and in the real needs of their children, understanding and valuing more the work carried out by teachers in the centers. d) And despite the difficulties, the Project has allowed a better Coexistence between all the agents involved in the education of our students.
