Objectives

"In their shoes: Building Inclusion" was born in response to the need to train youth workers in the inclusion of people with disabilities, improving their level of awareness and skills, in order to provide quality services to their users. The project consisted of a seminar for youth workers with experience in the inclusion of people with disabilities in which they shared tools and good practices in different key areas for the inclusion of young people with functional diversity. The objectives of the seminar were: - To bring together youth workers specialised in inclusion to generate a debate on existing barriers and possible solutions to include young people with disabilities in youth activities. - To bring into discussion cultural considerations around the inclusion of people with functional diversity. - To share tools for the inclusion of young people with disabilities that different professionals use in their daily practice. - To meet and discuss issues related to the inclusion of people with disabilities with representatives of different local groups with the capacity to generate change. - To create holistic tools that address several key areas for the creation of spaces, activities and philosophy in the work with young people with functional diversity. - To deepen the differentiation of the different key terms used when talking about disability. - Raise awareness about unreal accessibility, promoted from the lack of knowledge of the population and resulting in unexpected problems for people with disabilities. - To publicise local resources and entrepreneurs of our city who work for the inclusion of people with disabilities in different sectors. To achieve these objectives we generated debates around the theme of the project, each partner presented a useful tool in the inclusion of young people with disabilities and we brought together different tools to create a larger and holistic tool for the inclusion of people with functional diversity.
