Objectives

By implementing the “Move in Action” project we wanted to improve the competencies and skills of young people from less developed regions, particularly those with fewer opportunities. The project aimed to promote their participation in democratic life in Europe, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and solidarity. To achieve this goal, the project focused on developing communication skills, cooperation, dealing with prejudices and differences, and working in a group. The project sought to establish innovation and social entrepreneurship nodes through open and collaborative methodologies that give prominence to rural social entities, primarily populations under 20,000 inhabitants. The project analyzed the local realities in the 6 partner countries: Spain, Hungary, Romania, Italy, Portugal, and Latvia, and identified several challenges faced by young people in rural areas, including high unemployment, marginalization, a lack of appropriate resources, poor education, and career prospects. By addressing these challenges, the project aimed to provide young people from rural areas with attractive learning activities, logistic support, interaction with other cultures, financial possibilities, and to increase interest in foreign language skills. The project also aimed to promote active and European citizenship, mutual understanding, and social cohesion within the group using non-formal participative methods, applied directly in a rural community, contributing to the development of the quality of youth activities. The specific objectives of the project were: 1. To develop intercultural communication skills for participants from different backgrounds, bringing a tolerant, mutual understanding, respect for solidarity attitude inside teamwork. 2. To improve skills in both individual and teamwork. 3. To facilitate intercultural learning, breaking down the stereotypes and prejudices among the young participants in the youth exchange. 4. To strengthen the participants' abilities for active participation in their communities. 5. To develop facilitation skills and competencies in working with non-formal education in rural areas specifically (concern group leaders). 6. To provide opportunities for sharing non-formal experiences and good practices and networking with partners interested in participative approaches (concern partners). Overall, the objectives were aimed to address relevant issues, such as unemployment, marginalization, lack of appropriate resources, poor education, career prospects, and lack of interest and knowledge of young people from rural areas for cultural diversity and active European citizenship. The project aimed to provide a transformative response to these issues and improve the potential and personal development of local communities through inclusive and non-formal education methods.
