The project "Burgos 2021: Our Heritage, Our Future" aims to create relations and collaborations between European associations working in the field of youth and in the field of cultural, artistic and social heritage . The project aims to develop joint projects and educational strategies based on non-formal methods capable of increasing awareness of the relation between youth and culture and between art, traditions, culture and future. The project is a Partnership Building Activity that will involve 18 youth workers from 15 different European organisations. The decision to present this project and to deepen the link between cultural heritage and young people comes from the fact that in 2021 the city of Burgos will celebrate the 800th anniversary of its cathedral and this event led us to reflect on many factors. The anniversaries of historical, social and cultural events allow us to preserve our memory but above all they help us to become aware of where we come from, where we are going and therefore who we are. Young people are often not aware of this, they are disinterested and they don't actively participate in these events, as they only very rarely have the opportunity to express themselves, to learn and to become personally involved. Understanding where we come from is an opportunity to define where we are going, and this is a question of fundamental importance for Europe and its future. Cultural heritage unites Europe through its history and common values, it brings people together and helps us to build more cohesive societies. Europe needs more cohesive and inclusive societies that give citizens the chance to play an active role in democratic life. This project wants to go in this direction. The specific objectives of the project are: - to bring together organisations working with young people to create new project ideas and to develop participation strategies and new methods of non-formal education; - to identify educational strategies that can bring young people closer to art, culture and tradition; - creating an atmosphere of common understanding between people representing different cultures and working styles; - present examples of effective and successful cooperation; - build new collaborations; - to bring together experts and actors in the field to foster a tangible exchange of skills and experiences from different cultural perspectives for increase knowledge and skills; - create "links" between all participants to promote future cooperation and projects involving not only the participants themselves but also their beneficiaries; - to complete the initial planning phase of a cooperative project and to provide tools for shared work and a communication network to ensure cooperation on the projects and activities devised; - promote the Erasmus+ program and the European Solidarity Corps as key opportunities for young people and for building a united Europe.
