We believe and see every day that young people across Europe are facing a shortage of entrepreneurial skills. They may have some good ideas on how to manage their own future, but lack the tools and skill to do so. We can see how youth unemployment increased in Europe. On top of this, youth services budgets are being cut and quality training opportunities are scarce in the EU. Youth workers face an impossible dilemma, on the one hand rising youth unemployment, and on the other cuts in budgets for youth work and general social welfare. According to the Spanish Statistics Agency, Córdoba has one of the highest unemployment rates. On the other hand, southern European countries such as Spain are affected by catastrophic levels of youth unemployment and the consequent widespread emigration. It is in this context that experience in the voluntary sector in developing youth entrepreneurial skills can be invaluable and a very effective tool in addressing the needs of young people. In this project we have combined our experience with the needs of the young people with whom the partners of the other organizations are working, in order to meet the fundamental priorities of the Erasmus + programme: - E + Juventud priority 1: promoting the social inclusion of young people and well-being, especially through projects that address the issue of youth unemployment; this course has directly addressed this priority, touching on the entrepreneurship and creative skills of young people as a pathway to employment; - E + Youth priority 2: the development of basic and transversal skills, such as entrepreneurship, digital skills and multilingualism; the project focuses on entrepreneurial activity and develops English language skills of the participants; Our project has been carried out in Puente Genil, Córdoba where business education opportunities are scarce, thus giving the project an added value at the EU level. At the same time, we have linked our project with the New Youth Strategy of the European Union (2019-2027). The objectives of the sixth cycle of the EU Youth Dialogue - Youth in Europe reflect the views of European youth and represent the vision of those active in the EU Youth Dialogue. In Our project we have linked to some of the 11 planned objectives, such as: Objective 1: Connecting the EU with youth Goal 3: Inclusive societies Goal 4: Information and constructive dialogue Goal 7: Quality employment for all Goal 8: Quality apprenticeship Objective 11: Youth organizations and European programs This EU Youth Strategy contributes to making this youth vision a reality by mobilizing policy instruments at EU level, as well as actions at national, regional and local level by all stakeholders. This has been our humble contribution, together with this project and the rest of the partners to help achieve these objectives. Objectives of the project The objectives of the project were elaborated jointly by the Europe 2020 Association and project partners from the Netherlands and France as a reflection of the problems and needs faced by young people in Europe today (lack of training and opportunities, as well as the lack of education programs of entrepreneurship). The main objective of the project has been to train youth workers in the development of an initiative and an entrepreneurial spirit stimulating the skills of young people, as well as the development of their youth work skills, increasing the quality of their work and strengthening the capacity of their organizations. The objective of the project has been achieved through a high quality, and structured non-formal education program with the following objectives: - Developed skills of youth workers with an entrepreneurial spirit, including the exchange of experiences of entrepreneurial initiatives of young people, initiatives to be implemented for the benefit of their communities and their neighbors. - Developed youth creativity and problem solving skills. - Promoted the sense of responsibility and initiative, confidence, knowledge of their own limitations and creativity among European youth - Built a reliable network of organizations
