Objectives

With the improvement of technology, phones have become small computers. Social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter have become popular among people. Even though smartphones and social media have many benefits, they also cause harm. People have been able to share an event, photo, or anything they see to millions of people in a second, and this has created the concept called "Citizen Journalism". This situation brought about the fact that the news with uncertain accuracy creates great information pollution. As a younger generation, we may all have been exposed to, or even believed in, one of these fake news on social media. European countries are also exposed to the "Fake News" disaster and according to a survey conducted across Europe, 83% of respondents see the reflections of fake news in the media as a major problem in their country. Oxford University's Reuters Institute’s Digital News Report 2018, '' says In a survey of 37 countries also attended the most disinformation to visit the country from 49% Turkey, 44% in Greece, 42% in Hungary, is followed by Romania with 38%. When we look at the countries where disinfformation is experienced the least, Germany and Denmark with 9% and the Netherlands with 10% stand out. In our country, this rate has reached 30% and the rate of people who do not know the news that they see on the internet is 69%. According to the same research, 50% of the countries that are the fakest news use Facebook as a means of getting news. Even when we look at the disinformation rate in the fake news area and the rate of using Facebook as a news tool, we can see how these two events are linked. In Madrid, the survey we conducted locally revealed how much this need was. In the questionnaire, 80 people were asked about the ability to differentiate between true news and false news, and the ways to reach the correct news, but 53 people used social media as a tool to reach a piece of actual news and they accepted the news before them without questioning it. Considering the existence of an unconscious young population, it is thought that the correct use of the media and reaching the right news is an important need. In this context, we decided to carry out our project due to the increasing number of counterfeit journalism and the high rate of disinformation in Spain. Our general goal was to raise awareness of this false news in social media by informing young people about the right and wrong news and to develop an awareness of researching the accuracy of news against the news they see on the internet. Our specific objectives were: 1) Creating awareness on the ‘’Fake News’’ concept. 2) Instilling research awareness against the false news they encounter on the Internet or in life. 3) Showing the process of making news to young people with visits to agencies and local news agencies. 4) While teaching the concept of ''Fake News'' to people on the street with various practices, enabling young people to be familiar with this concept and talk about this concept.
