EcoYouth, was born from the will of a group of secondary school and vocational training students from the IES EL Rincón de Las Palmas de G.C., and their teachers, who after attending a youth event, in which Mojo de Caña, made a presentation and dissemination of the Erasmus+ program and European Solidarity Corps in the municipality, approached us to tell us their ideas. With this project, the young people wanted to share and learn from other experiences in terms of sustainable development, care for the environment and innovation, in urban environments, in their cities, to promote the participation of their communities in the development of clean cities, sustainable, committed and healthy. However, after the health crisis due to Covid19, which led to delaying the execution of the project, these young people involved in the educational center finished their studies there; Therefore, added to the new normality, and the change of the teaching staff involved in the initial project, it finally led to us developing the project from the rest of the entities, being able to count on only two former students from the center, a partner entity. Despite this, we wish to maintain the spirit and the idea from which this project arose, maintaining the following objectives: - Develop learning about the tools, knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to achieve more sustainable cities and communities, respecting the quality of life of the people who inhabit them and nature. - Learn about other ways to actively participate in their communities and cities for the sustainable use of resources (energy, waste, transport...) - Promote prosocial values that enable respect for the environment, care for ecosystems influenced by urban centers and those behaviors that prevent pollution (recycling, waste management, healthy eating, responsible consumption...).
