Objectives

Bound through Sport is a project within KA1 where the main objective is to raise awareness of the importance of sport, especially in groups with fewer resources. In this way, the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities to participate in sports practices is encouraged and sports are promoted in the different communities from which the participants come. Taking into account the situation of sedentary lifestyle among young Europeans and the high amount of time dedicated to new technologies by this group, at SFTW we wanted to raise awareness about the advantages and benefits of doing sports, not only to combat sedentary lifestyle and have a healthier life, but also for all those values that sport promotes, such as unity, the feeling of belonging, self-improvement, effort, personal and collective success, respect, equality, empathy, the movement of emotions and feelings… In addition, we identified that young people who play sports have the false idea that they need economic and geographical resources to be able to practice it, reducing the practice of sport to middle and upper class people. This produces, above all, exclusion of people with fewer opportunities or who are in situations where there are social, economic or geographical problems. A sedentary lifestyle also has effects on the lack of connection between the community, it causes more stress due to the lack of movement and the lack of generating dopamine, and obviously, it increases obesity. The objective of Bound Through Sport was to mix participants with different backgrounds and origins, so that they could feed each other on the different resources that there are to do sport, that they become aware of the values that it promotes and that they come together to have and develop new ideas of implementation of sports activities in their communities, so that it is not only an individual impact, but a collective and multiplier one. The sedentary lifestyle situations of the 5 countries participating in the project were seen and what the causes and effects were in each country, comparing and looking for similarities and differences, in order to be able to share practices and solutions and reduce the percentage in our population. Within the main objective, we find other more specific ones: 1. Stimulate interaction between the 30 participants and youth leaders, providing space for them to share experiences, knowledge and learn constructively from each other. 2. Provide the 30 participants with tools in the field of non-formal education, information on ways to promote sport and new ideas to develop that can later be used in their own communities 3. Create more tolerance and acceptance among participants without judging each person's background and context. 4. Create 6 activities/events developed and explained, designed by the participants, to be implemented in the communities of origin of the participants. 5. Promote cooperation between the 5 NGOs collaborating in this project by creating common online resources (Instagram, Facebook group) and between the different local entities where the participants come from. The project is linked to the objectives of the Erasmus+ program by involving participants with fewer opportunities who come from disadvantaged areas. Health, physical activity and the exchange of ideas, culture and knowledge are also promoted, developing more open and tolerant mentalities with others.
