Objectives

Through the "Wild Nature" project, we wanted to address environmental issues: environment and sustainability, the importance of endemic species, the consequences and effects of climate change, the water cycle, the importance of bees as pollinators, types of pollutants, the seven Rs, upcycling, Youthpass competences, inclusion, ecofeminism, reforestation, knowledge of the ecosystemic resources of the Sierra Nevada National and Natural Park and the revaluation of rural areas. We have focused on valuing the environment, natural heritage and rural life in the Alpujarra as an example of sustainable living, through teamwork, active listening, empathy, involvement with local youth, participatory reflection on our environmental malpractice and the empowerment of participants as responsible agents and ambassadors of change, with a view to the implementation of new environmental policies that have been implemented in Europe. On the other hand, we have proposed a learning process based on experience in a unique natural environment, such as the Sierra Nevada National and Natural Park, where we have carried out a trek of medium duration and difficulty. For this we have collaborated with different local institutions, so that the involvement has been bidirectional, as well as the learning process has also been bidirectional. The objectives of the project have been the following: - To improve the level of competences and basic skills of young people. - To promote active citizenship, intercultural dialogue and social integration. - To support the development of a knowledge- and experience-based youth policy. - To enhance the international dimension of youth activities. - Enhance the role of youth workers and youth organisations as support structures for young people. - To promote non-formal education as a close learning pathway. - To acquire essential skills for their personal and professional development. - To value the natural environment in order to avoid its degradation, as well as the rural environment. - To learn about the consequences of climate change and sustainable measures to cushion its effect. - To invite reflection on the bad habits that we do without realising it and that are harmful to the environment. - To develop a critical attitude towards the current global change and to instruct with new substitute and innocuous actions to re-educate the "bad habits". - To empower participants as agents of change, valuing their initiative and contributions in group work. We are all useful. - Educate in interculturality and emphasise the positive aspects of group cohesion and the inclusion of its participants in order to move forward together towards a common goal. - To present alternative leisure activities in nature as a tool to get to know and appreciate the environment.
