The main idea of the project is to raise awareness about the relevance of the natural environment and the importance of preventing and fighting against forest fires. The project brought together on Gran Canaria Island (Arucas municipality) a group of 24 young people aged between 18 and 30 and 6 group leaders from Portugal, Italy and Spain interested in learning and/or establishing initiatives on forest fire prevention, action against pollution in natural areas, awareness of climate change and environmental sustainability through outdoor activities, hiking and other means that serve as catalysts for learning and solidarity work. Another objective of this exchange was to facilitate communication and skip language barriers (e.g. not having a good level of English) for potential candidates interested in participating in the exchange, so that it will only be necessary for participants to speak their mother tongue (Italian, Spanish or Portuguese).
