Project summary

5 NGOs from 5 European countries: Portugal, Greece, Hungary, Italy, and Spain will be working together for 1 year to create an informal group of 1) youth workers and non-formal learning practitioners (from each promoter organization) 2) artists, art practitioners, and teachers (from several subjects and schools) and 3) young people with fewer opportunities to experiment and learn from each other how to complement FINE* ARTS with NFL and ICL techniques in an innovative way, to answer urgent social and educational needs and challenges, that are found relevant by promoter organizations, and by project participants during the project in this VUCA** times. The project aims to create new tools, activities, and approaches that promoter organizations, other NGOs, art schools, and centers, youth workers, and artists can use, and incorporate as part of the activities they are carrying out professionally, both offline and online. Promoter organizations will create a small and mixed international team of individuals who will collect a selection of tools and activities they will share with their peers (other NGOs and art schools) at the local, regional, national and European level, by organizing multiplier events and by creating the contents of an online platform. Specific objectives: -The project will present the concept and approach of FINE Learning, which stands for Focused, Inclusive, Nutrient, and Engaging learning using fine arts as the technique. - It will collect and disseminate relevant practices on how creativity and cultural expression supports learning for all. -Project will promote the European competence framework for lifelong learning using Fine Arts as a valid tool, means of expression, or technique. Activities: We suggest to organize 4 transnational activities and 3 local/regional/national activities on each of the cities where the promoter organizations are based if health measures allow them to take place; if not, the 19 project activities (4 plus 15=3X5) will take place online. 1st TNM: kick-off meeting (April 2021), International art workshop (June 2021), 2nd TNM: results meeting (October 2021), 3rd TNM: evaluation and follow-up meeting (February 2022). The 3 local/national activities are: Group building and preparations (May 2021), local art workshops ( from July to September 2021), multiplier events and exhibits (from November to December 2021).

Objectives

The 4 general objectives are: -Develop digital, civic and creative skills focused on promoting social leadership and resilience among young people. -Develop knowledge for the use of fine arts as an educational tool that is inclusive, focused, nurturing and engaged (based on community needs and on interaction among individuals). -Create a method that allows identifying, developing and recognizing these competences and achieving results using the fine arts and the methodology of non-formal and intercultural learning, from an inclusive and multicultural perspective. -Select, develop and create new educational activities to promote the practice of fine arts as a privileged and valuable educational tool for youth workers. The 3 specific objectives are: - Recognize and value digital, civic and digital skills as driving forces to build more resilient, inclusive and sustainable societies. -Promote fine arts, non-formal and intercultural learning as complementary methodologies and valid frameworks for the development of key competences. -Collect and develop innovative educational resources that promote these competences, and widely disseminate the manual in association with partners.

Background

We have implemented this project to create a new concept and method that serves to use fine arts as pedagogical tools to help the largest possible number of youth entities, artists, educators and young people. The concept 'Fine Arts for FINE Learning' serves as our strategy to draw attention and raise awareness about the potential of fine arts, non-regulated and intercultural methodology and helps us to compile and create new activities, tools and techniques that we have collected in a manual to serve many other entities, so that integrate art into their activities with young people. The need is to offer inclusive and useful educational experiences, making youth workers learn new tools. Our idea has been to create new activities and formats fostering more intense and extensive use of the fine arts by implementing workshops, to connect the world of fine arts and artistic expression with the world of youth work and NFL (so that society as a whole (starting with the non-profit organizations themselves) understands the transversal value of the arts as an engine of learning, personal and professional development. The wide dissemination of the manual in 8 languages should encourage entities to use art as a powerful learning technique.
