We wanted to improve our teachers' skills in methodology, pedagogy and communication, as well as create and strengthen international liaisons. Key focus was on meta-skills of problem-solving, innovation and networking, as well as communication and intercultural skills. Teaching these skills to our pupils and student teachers support their well-being and future learning in our fast-paced society.
We are a university teacher training school, and part of larger scientific and international organization, and therefore we need to keep a focus on future and develop our skill in the changing society. By taking part in Tulevaisuuden taidot/Skills for Future -project we wanted to bring the skills and competences necessary in the future into our school and make them a concrete part of our school´s everyday life. These skills include the meta-skills such as problem-solving, information retrieval and knowledge construction, creativity, innovation and networking. In addition, communication and intercultural skills are vital.
