Objectives

The courses we chose for our project were expected to give us skills and tools to implement the activities of the One Year Well-Being Plan and meet the requirements set by the the communal student welfare services. Both pupils and teachers face more and more challenges nowadays. With our project we aimed to find tools and skills to manage the challenges and avoid burnout at school and every day life. The participants took part in the courses that included the following topics: positive psychology and life skills, strengthening recilience, communication skills, stress management and stress recognition and positive thinking. In our opinion developing those skills is essential for the participants’ professional development as well as management of work-related stress. . Additionally the project would provide the participants with the opportunity to acquire new, innovative teaching methods and knowledge of European school systems and new contacts to Europe and of course improve their language proficiency and cultural competence. We also thought we might find partners for our future projects with pupil mobilities. With the project we would be able to offer the pupils more interesting and intriguing lessons and learning methods. The well-being of both the pupils and the teachers would increase.

Background

We want to develop our school purposefully and at the same time invest into internationality. That is why we have taken part in several ERASMUS+-projects via which teachers and pupils have tools, skills and enthusiasm for their school work. We have gained e.g. new ICT skills and skills in versatile learning assessment and multidisciplinary learning. At the beginning of the school year 2019 the teaching staff decided to start developing and improving well-being and sense of community in our school. The municipality school welfare group has introduced One Year Well-being Plan, the use of a set of activities to be carried out monthly with all classes. These activities as well as the communal student welfare services aim at improving and increasing pupils’ well-being, emotional and social skills, skills to relax and manage stress and skills to cope with day-to-day life and to face the future challenges. Our KA1-project aimed to provide the teaching staff of our school with tools and skills to carry out the activities successfully and meet and implement the requirements set by th the communal student welfare services. When discussing the well-being of the whole school, the well-being of the school staff should not be forgotten. In our previous ERASMUS-projects we had not gone into the well-being of the teachers and school assistants. It was about time. Via our KA1-project we were given an opportunity to get to know our European colleagues and network more broadly with European schools and possibly find partners for our future projects with pupil mobilities. Additionally the European identity of the participants as well as the whole school would strengthen.
