The aim of the project was to develop the overall well-being of the children and the youth in our school community through positive pedagogy. This is particularly important to prevent exclusion and mental health problems. During the project, the participants learned more about positive pedagogy and the ways to utilize it in the school to improve the students’ well-being. This knowledge will be passed to the other staff members of the school.
School plays an important role in promoting the well-being of children and young people. During the past years, Ahvenisjärvi school has switched to utilizing a program to work against bullying. We found that the program alone is not sufficient to teach students emotional and interaction skills. Our aim was to strengthen these skills through positive pedagogy.
