With our project, we search good models of encouraging the participation of students in order to better take them into account in our schools. We looked for methods to lessen dropping out of school and marginalization. This project created a brilliant opportunity for collaboration between different schools, psychologists, curators and early childhood education specialists in our domicile. The project stakeholders met each other in info and discussion sessions where they could share their ideas about well being. This shared project created a good base for co-operation between schools and student welfare groups as well as gave ideas for working together. The goal of this Erasmus project was to bring international cooperation to Pori’ s municipal educational administration in a well-organized manner and on a larger scale than before. The project also enabled working and interacting in different European networks for both our project participants and our students. We got more knowledge and experience in projects as well as practical language skills and courage in speaking different languages in real-life situations.
The participants in Pori’ s consortium project were school social workers and psychologists from the local education and culture department, the welfare group of Kuninkaanhaka School, the teaching faculty of the schools Kaarisilta, Itätuuli and Tuulikello, as well as special education teachers of early childhood education. The aim of this project were to focus on the well being of both the students and the school faculty. Our shared project created an opportunity for smooth dialogue between kindergartens, schools, school social workers and psychologists. Some of the main things we were studying during this project for the sake of increasing the well being of our staff are relaxation, recovery, stress management and mindfulness. We were also familiarized ourselves with strengths-based pedagogy and art therapeutic and inclusive teaching methods.
