The main objective of the project and implementing it was to improve the teaching personnel’s skills and qualifications to match the contents of the new national curriculum with its key competences. We aimed at increasing the skills in teaching key competences of well-being and communication skills. In addition, we pursued strengthening our teaching personnel’s stress management skills. Our third aim was to make international connections and co-operation a solid part of our schoolwork instead of having random projects without the certainty of a continuum.
We applied the Erasmus grant to implement the contents of the new Finnish national curriculum for both lower and upper secondary schools. Our focus was to find ways to strengthen the skills of the staff especially in the fields of the key competences included in the curriculum as well as our skills in supporting our students and pupils with their needs. The theme of this project was well-being skills and how to improve and increase these skills. We aimed at increasing the well-being of both the staff and that of our students and pupils. Secondly, we had and still have the goal to make international activities a permanent structure within our school. We aimed at both strengthening the existing and creating new contacts. At this point, it seems that we achieved these goals, and we are already starting new projects with the contacts. Furthermore, our daily schoolwork has greatly suffered from a prolonged school building project. The original construction schedule was postponed and after that, the difficulty of organizing schoolwork in the middle of a construction site. In practice, some staff members are currently working in a separate, temporary building, which creates a particular need to support well-being skills.
