The aim of this project was to motivate staff members to become more international in their work and thus get more international aspects into the daily life of our school community. Also the Finnish national curriculum for upper secondary schools requires schools to have international participation. Since the international projects in our school have been in the hands of few, the most important objective was to motivate those who haven't participated in any international activities. We chose the second objective for the project to be the improvement of the well-being of the individuals in the school community and the well-being of the whole school community. That has been one of the key objectives also in the yearly planning of our school work. It is a slow process and the working staff needs all the help and knowledge they can get to be able to support not only their own personal well-being but also that of the students in our school.
We applied for this project because we are in the process of developing the international program of our school and we wanted to get to know the Erasmus+ programs better. Our school hadn't applied for any Erasmus+ grants before, and applying for this project was a big step for the development of the international programs in our school. In the future we would like to take part in mobilities in which also the students are involved. The mobilities for teachers only is one step closer to that objective.
