Objectives

European cooperation was aimed at improving quality, strengthening skills and internationalisation. The project aimed to strengthen language skills, which are key to international understanding, and to develop teaching and guidance in an innovative, student-centred way.

Background

We wanted to enable staff to develop in different areas and support internationalisation. Otavia (Otavan Opisto) participated in the Erasmus+ KA1 training project in 2015-2017 and participated in the 2018-2020 project period. The projects have been very successful and participants have found the mobilities useful. They have brought ideas and concrete innovations. The new project aimed to continue the development work that has started well, to build on the lessons learned from the previous project when designing the mobility and to give more staff the opportunity to participate. There was still a need to improve language skills and there would be opportunities for international contacts through mobility. Mobility abroad gives participants the opportunity to increase their subject knowledge and cultural awareness, which is particularly relevant for foreign language teachers.
