The objective of the project was to gain new perspectives and ideas for developing the museum’s adult education work in the new cultural centre, and to increase international activities in Satakunta Museum. We also wanted to find new tools and methods to opening collections and developing services for adult visitors.
The goal of the mobility project was to prepare Satakunta Museum for a substantial change: In 2019, the city of Pori was planning to establish a new cultural centre ”The Treasure of Pori”. One of the main objectives of the new centre was to provide a new kind of museum experience with an open museum storage and an information centre that would have made the information resources of the museum more accessible. Adults are a focal target group for our museum that operates in a region where population is declining and ageing. By offering the museum staff a possibility to gain international experience and contacts in this project, we wanted to strenghten our possibilities to attract new audiences and provide more high-quality services for adult visitors in the future.
