The common goal of the project was to strengthen international competences of partner organizations’ staff, which will have positive affect on both individual as well as on organizational level. The participants were encouraged to participate in international mobility activities to develop their language skills, cultural understanding, and more specific professional competences. Important issues for the project were also related to everyday work of the participants, such as boosting motivation and well-being at work. Furthermore, the partners had the need to strengthen and develop their international networks and find new reliable partners for future cooperation. Internationalization is also supporting the positive development outside partner organizations at regional level.
European Dimension for Adult Education was an Erasmus+ KA1 mobility project coordinated by Jyväskylä Educational Consortium Gradia, carried out from September 2020 until May 2023. Gradia and the other seven partners in the project (Jyväskylä Adult Education Centre, Jyväskylä Christian Institute, Summer University of Jyväskylä, Jyvälä Settlement, Koskela Settlement, Green Care Centre Könkkölä and Multicultural Centre Gloria) are all educational organizations or associations in Central Finland working with adults. Some of the partners had experience from previous adult education projects, but this time there were also a couple of new partners, who got the support from the project they needed to begin with their international activities. The main objective of each organization was to increase the international and multicultural competence of their staff, especially in terms of linguistic and communicative skills. By encouraging staff to participate in international activities the sending organization got project benefits as well, such as new ideas, approaches, and contacts. This will support regional development in Central Finland in the long run.
