Objectives

We wanted to develop multiple skills in students: - to conduct an investigative process - know how to cooperate (develop social skills) - acquire interdisciplinary skills: * programming in a computer language * develop creativity - learn to recycle, in an ecological approach, because the project is low cost For our part, we needed to : - to confront ourselves with new knowledge in our disciplinary/interdisciplinary field - to adopt another pedagogical approach to interest our students (by project) We also wanted to build lasting links with teachers in the partner countries. More specifically : - Mrs Nguyen had some knowledge of programming but not in an interactive way, The use of the arduino programming board was very limited at the college, she needed knowledge about electronic circuits and interactive programming and to associate them with concrete activities for the pupils -Mrs Laudereau (art teacher) wanted to get the students to work in the spirit of the fab lab, and see how it works, by testing it.

Background

At the time we wrote the project, the drop-out rate in our school was not negligible, we felt the need to make the students learn differently (of course we can't do it for all the notions to be studied, especially in mathematics) but we wanted to at least create some deep learning moments for the students. We wanted to find a more motivating project for the pupils, to get them more involved in their learning: while using everyday objects, to get them to broaden their knowledge/skills in our disciplines. We thought of combining art and maths as many artists are starting to use technology, especially programming in their work. We needed to learn more about interactive programming so that we could pass it on to the students in the Buinho fab lab.
