The aim of this project is to improve the practices of teachers, trainers and supervisors serving pupils by: - helping to improve language skills in order to increase the use of languages in the workplace, to build confidence and to legitimise the taking-over of such teaching. - develop didactic knowledge and enable school teachers to develop their collective and individual teaching practices and approaches. - diversify training arrangements for trainers and inspectors to ensure better dissemination of teaching content and practice. - Promote teamwork and peer-to-peer collaboration. - boost the openness and European cooperation of schools by deepening the cultural knowledge of the countries in which the mobility will take place. - establish contacts with international counterparts to acquire methodological know-how for the establishment of a bilingual school. - participate in times of exchange of practice with European peers and build common tools with them.
In a context of strong rurality, cultural isolation and very limited international openness, in 2018 the pool of primary-level trainers began to reflect on the theme of modern languages with the aim of creating a departmental dynamic around their teaching. Teaching practices show that pupils are exposed to foreign languages for a limited period of time and too late, that language is used as an object of study and not as a means of communication. The team, made up of pedagogical advisors, needs to unite its actions in order to build links between the different disciplines and modern languages and to offer interdisciplinary support to schools. To address these problems, a first project was carried out and a strong dynamic of collective work in the service of modern languages and other disciplines was created within the team of trainers and the teaching team of the school of Saint-Varent, which continued with the implementation of a strengthened English curriculum throughout the school. The aim of this second application is to sustain the learning achievements, the investment of teachers and trainers and to federate new schools.
