With this project we wanted to: 1- strengthen our network of 10 schools, 3 colleges, a general school and a vocational agricultural high school (the Lycée St Yves carrying this project); these schools are all under diocesan or congregational supervision (clunysian, lassalliens...) and therefore belong to the private education network. All institutions are faced with the same problems of staff losses. Strengthening the network by relying on the Erasmus programme would strengthen solidarity between our institutions and offer them more visibility. It would also help to get them out of their isolation. 2-Strengthen skills: staff, especially in primary schools, have expressed the need to strengthen their English skills. Masters are not always trained in this field 3- Strengthen the international networks of our schools. Primary schools have no european contacts or projects. These projects are beneficial for children (openness to the world, linguistic aspects, European citizenship) and attractive for families.
This consortium project stems from a desire to create a zone of mutual trust in the territory between institutions of the diocesan network, from the first degree to the second cycle. An Erasmus project, by its structuring quality, could meet this demand. The Lycée St Yves because of its experience in this field was the main force of proposal of this project. The territory is marked by structural economic difficulties that affect our establishments , all located in Centre Bretagne , mainly in the north-west of Morbihan. This relatively landlocked territory has neither a train line nor a fast track and is located 45 minutes from the nearest town (Lorient). In a generally positive Breton context it is the last territory to lose population and it cumulates all the negative indicators (aging of the population, low income...). This unfavourable context weighs on the development of our institutions threatened in their recruitment and in loss of staffing. The optimism of the Erasmus action in this relatively gloomy context should help to revitalize the institutions.
