Objectives

We wanted to attend this training course to promote interculturality, as international openness is at the heart of our educational project. Promoting the European openness of our school is a way of anchoring our courses and teaching practices in the values that underpin Europe. We also wanted to learn about the methodology of managing intercultural European projects in order to put it into practice in our future projects and to acquire a better understanding of budget management tools. We wanted to improve our knowledge of the mechanisms for setting up KA 1 and 2 projects and share it with all the administrative and teaching teams. This seminar is an opportunity to meet European partners in order to increase the number of European mobilities of our students.

Background

Our region, Normandy, has been experiencing economic difficulties for several years. The business activity area around Caen has undergone profound economic and social changes. In order to respond to this local issue, our high school has implemented various measures to reduce school dropout and increase training levels. Also, beyond these efforts, it seems essential to us to strengthen our opening to the international scene which is a central topic of our school project. Making mobility more accessible to all young people, allowing them to open up to other horizons and thus considering another future seem to us to be a very interesting way out, to increase their employability. This is why our skills in the management and implementation of a European intercultural project has to be improved. Thus, it seems fundamental to us to add to the mobility of the students that of the teachers. Therefore, the intercultural training, The ETTI training seminar, "Project management for cross-cultural exchange projects in Europe" in Heraklion makes sense and meets our needs and requirements. After consultation with all the staff within our school, we have gathered a team of 4 teachers who want to get involved in this project.
