Objectives

The local, institutional and academic contexts therefore pushed the team and the management to promote early learning of Spanish, but the team faced certain difficulties: *lack of tools and methods *poor cultural aspect, language level to be updated *repetitive language activities *little collaborative work on the contents and methods of ELE: the linguistic progression is therefore discontinuous. As part of the European project for the development of the school group, we have set ourselves 5 main objectives: • For teachers → improve language skills → develop new teaching methods and innovative approaches to learning → facilitate the formal recognition of skills acquired during learning mobility abroad → build a coherent and progressive linguistic path from kindergarten to CM2 • For the headteacher → develop managerial skills and improve the school's governance by developing its international dimension through participation in Erasmus projects and ensuring school/college continuity to instil a European dynamic in the establishment.

Background

The Saint-Jacques de Compostelle school, integrated into a school group, is located in Dax in the New Aquitaine region. It is very close to Spain and welcomes Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking pupils. For fifteen years, Spanish and English have been taught there from kindergarten. The school's educational project emphasizes A PEDAGOGY OF OPENNESS to the environment and to various cultures. It was completed by a language project, defined by several lines of action: *decompartmentalization in modern languages *teaching geometry in Spanish from CM1 (DNL since 2014) *the creation of "gateway" documents CM2-6ème *a partnership with a Spanish school with linguistic exchanges (Nazareth School of VITORIA). This multilingualism and this openness to the international are part of the overall policy of the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle school group: balance classes in middle school, English/Spanish European sections in high school, travel and language exchanges, realization of KA2-type ERASMUS projects . The school wanted to go further in the implementation of its linguistic project by developing an ERASMUS + project highlighting the “added value” of early learning of a foreign language.
