Objectives

The identified needs allowed us to determine the objectives to be achieved in the face of our initial questioning. A first objective lies in our desire to refine our knowledge of the various functionings of European structures for the reception and schooling of young children in order to analyze the gaps, the advantages and their limits. Our second objective is the increased knowledge of the place of the child, of the family and more generally of the family policy carried out in the countries observed, allowing us to highlight the reception of young children with the societal reality in which they evolve. Our third objective is to share knowledge of the French education system and the specificities related to the schooling of children from the age of 3 in France through specific discussion times during meetings, interventions with students , management staff or elected officials bringing time for sharing, analysis and pooling of educational operations and practices that are enriching for all. A fourth objective aims to develop and maintain the existing dynamic between our two departments and it is for this reason that the project carried out is bi-departmental

Background

A new regulation implemented in France in 2019 confirms the obligation of school education in France for children from 3 years old. The training groups of the nursery missions of Savoie and Haute Savoie wanted to lead a time of observations and exchanges in other European countries on this theme. The trainers participating in this project geographically represent the whole of the two territories of Haute-Savoie and Savoie and occupy various missions within the national education system: inspectors, educational advisers, school principals, teacher of primary schools former. All of these staff take part in the initial and continuing training of teachers. The reception of 3-year-old children in a school setting is a French specificity which leads us to ask ourselves many questions. It therefore seemed important to us to compare the different visions of early childhood care in European countries in order to compare our teaching practices, to know the place of the child within society as well as the general family policy carried out with a view to improving the reception of 3-year-old pupils in kindergarten.
