Objectives

Our objectives in implementing this project to improve the reputation of the school for both staff and students were: — make some teachers acquire new skills in Arts education, with the aim of not relying exclusively on Arts colleague for their projects, but also in the management of both diversity and students with special needs: organization of space and furniture, activities, skills to develop, etc. -— encourage professional development through the recognition of learning and the development of new skills; — initiate European mobilities and international partnerships in our school, finding European partners for future projects; — ensure that Europe is no longer a vague concept for the staff, students and families of the school.

Background

In a priority educational sector, our school offers students added value through the engagement of all staff. It is important to give teenagers the opportunity to see beyond their neighbourhood and their daily difficulties, by cultivating their intellectual, sporting and artistic talents, so that new perspectives appear. Participating in international activities is part of this ambitious dynamic perspective: improving the reputation of the school is essential for students and families, but also for school staff, because a "turn-over" affects the teachers, the chief advisors for education and the management team. The motivation and professional development of school staff must therefore be supported. Some teachers expressed their needs as follows: — observing innovative classroom practices, including management of diversity and students with special needs in Europe; — strengthening their theoretical and practical knowledge in the artistic field, which could be more important in our pedagogical action, in order to develop transversal skills and to work better in interdisciplinarity; — starting a network of partners for the future.
